Prayer goals             2023                                        New North Road Baptist Church

As you reflect on these prayer gaols let us find renewed confidence and hope in the Lord in an age of anxiety when we can be overwhelmed by news of disasters and calamities, remembering that God is still God and God is still good.

Be anxious for nothing but in everything let your requests be made known to God. And the God of peace, which passes all understanding will guard and keep your hearts in the Lord Jesus Christ. Philippians 4, vs 6

1.          A culture or mentoring, apprenticeship, opportunity and encouragement
Giving thanks for the many gifts that God shares through the body of Christ.
Please pray that we can be welcome the gifts and abilities of everyone who comes to New North Road and that we actively seek to mentor and apprentice people in every sphere of our ministry and mission so that people grow in confidence and belonging.
‘Fan into flames the gift you received through the laying on of hands’ 2 Timothy 1 vs 6

2.         Children and young people
Giving thanks for the growing number of children and all who seek to serve, safeguard, include, instruct and encourage them.
Please pray that God will continue to strengthen our provision for children and young people and that we will continue to welcome their presence and their gifts.
‘Don’t let anyone look down on you because you are young but be an example’ I Timothy 4. Vs 12

3.         Farsi community
Giving thanks for the movement of God’s spirit in our Farsi community and the work of our Saba and of our team in encouraging discipleship and supporting them.
Please pray that God will raise up people within the Farsi community who can offer effective leadership and oversight in their own language and share in the task of discipling new and growing Christians.
‘They were astonished to see the gift of the Holy Spirit was being poured out, even on gentiles.’ Acts 10 vs 45

4.         Yorkshire Baptist Association
Give thanks for the YBA and the team members who serve us including Nike the regional minister for Huddersfield.
The vision of the YBA is ‘Growing disciples by multiplying healthy churches across Yorkshire’ Please pray that we may play our part by being open to the God of surprises while seeking to be a safe and welcoming community for many different people and actively seeking to grow in faith and spirituality, our numbers and resourcefulness.
‘Every day the Lord added to their numbers, people who were being saved.’ Acts 2 vs 47

5.         Prayer
Give thanks for the opportunities to share in prayer together and for the prayer diary each month.
Please pray that we may find the courage to grasp a deeper vision of the part prayer can play, growing closer to God and one another, as we shine with his glory, and know his presence even when the sky is grey.
‘When they heard this, they raised their voices together in prayer’ Acts 4 vs 24

6.         Our nation and the world
Give thanks for the many people who are standing up to give voice to need for freedom, justice, compassion for the vulnerable and the integrity of our planet.
Please pray that God will guide and inspire us to do the same so that we can stand in solidarity with our global neighbours and do this in ways that make a difference. For example, taking forward our vision of renewing our energy supply in an environmentally sustainable way.
‘Your kingdom come on earth as it is heaven.’ Matthew 6 vs 10
